The first baby created using a new method of "three- person IVF" has been born in Ukraine.

Known as "pronuclear transfer", this type of IVF involves combining genetic material from the prospective mother and father and then transferring it into an egg given by a donor. This means that, as well as its parents, the child has a very small amount of DNA from the woman who donated the egg.

The process has already been deemed legal in the UK, although some have raised scientific and ethical concerns about using it.
