Sir Mick Jagger has reportedly agreed the child miantenace he will be paying for his eighth child, due to be born at the end of this year.
It appears that marriage of Sir Mick and Melanie (the child's mother) is not looking likely. If the child were born here the legislation that would apply to govern the amount of capital and maintenance the father should pay would be through the Child Maintenance Service (formally the CSA) and under the Children Act 1989, rather than matrimonial law. This changes the claims that can be made significantly.
If you have children and need any advice about claims being made against you, or that you may need to make, please contact a member of the family team here at Freeths.
The baby is not due until December but the 72-year-old Rolling Stone is thought to have already sorted out a child maintenance deal with Melanie Hamrick, 29.
