The Screwfix millionaire (James Goddard-Watts) would have imagined his divorce and the financial order made six years ago was full and final, as many orders are. The only type of order that leaves issues open (normally only in part) are ones including spousal maintenance or future payments such as charges on property.

This case has been reopened not on the basis of enforcement or variation but instead due to the allegation made by Mr Goddard-Watts' ex-wife, that he did not give full and frank disclosure at the time the order was made. If this is proved the court can, and will, order a review of the capital division and a likely costs order against him.

This case is a good reminder of why giving full financial disclosure is always best.
