This is an interesting case on how far one spouse's behaviour should be taken into account when dividing assets on divorce.

The husband is appealing against a judgment that his wife should receive more than half of their assets on the basis that he spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on alcohol and drugs during the course of their marriage. He argues that this was not a 'lifestyle choice' but an addiction, and that she had known about it for many years.

The Court of Appeal's judgment is due in the new year.
