Divorce capital: meet the wealthy ex-wives setting up alone in Kensington and Chelsea
Divorce settlements have spiked in the past few years as the incomes of the top one per cent continue to rocket. The most recent £337 million pay out by financier Sir Chris Hohn has broken all records and there have been plenty of other eye-watering payouts. Insurance magnate John Charman was obliged to hand over £48 million to his ex-wife, while musician Phil Collins’s third wife Orianne Cevey walked away with £25 million. Last week the £72 million settlement between Texan financier Randy Work and his estranged wife Mandy Gray prompted London to be once again dubbed “divorce capital of the world”. And there are two square miles in Kensington and Chelsea where the wealthy divorcees appear to congregate.
